What you need to know

Aftermarket options

Direct-replacement nonheated power assemblies are sold for the early S197, but exact feature, side and connector match is required. Used OEM assemblies should be inspected for broken studs/housing, missing or damaged cap/glass, heat operation, connector/pin count and pony-lamp operation.

Before you buy

Match the VIN/build date, side, original connector and original mirror features; model year alone is not enough. A 2005 car may use an early service number, 2010 and 2011-2012 use different assembly families, and 2013-2014 adds standard versus heated/pony-lamp choices. Heat, spotter glass, projection lamp and cap inclusion vary. No cross-era interchange is claimed.
