NA/NB Miata 1.6 vs 1.8 Clutch & Flywheel Match

No single supersession chain. The 200 mm 1.6 and 215 mm 1.8 clutch/flywheel systems are separate applications. EXEDY documents that a 1.6 car may use the higher-capacity 1.8 clutch only when the later 1.8 flywheel is used; that is a matched-system conversion, not a clutch-only interchange.

Choose the clutch by the flywheel installed, not by transmission spline count alone. Both cataloged applications use 22 splines/24.3 mm, but the friction diameters differ. A stock 1.6 flywheel takes the 200 mm 1.6 clutch. A 1.8 flywheel takes the 215 mm 1.8 clutch and matching pressure plate. If a prior owner changed the flywheel, identify it before ordering. Verify the exact contents of any kit; do not assume every clutch kit includes both release and pilot bearings.
