S197 Mustang Front Door Shells: 2005-2009 versus 2010-2014, Side and Bare-versus-Loaded Identification

US/LHD 2005-2014 Ford Mustang S197 factory front-door shells only, separated first into 2005-2009 and 2010-2014 service eras and then into left/driver versus right/passenger side. The checked Ford diagrams apply each era's shell pair to both Coupe and Convertible; body style is not represented as a separate bare-shell identity in this evidence. A loaded donor still requires Coupe/Convertible and equipment confirmation for every attached component. Exclude 2015-up S550, non-US/RHD assumptions, rear-quarter structure, outer skins presented as shells, cross-era appearance conversions, modified or cut doors and vehicles with unmeasured A-pillar, rocker or latch-pillar collision damage.

What you need to know

Start with the recipient 17-character VIN, US model year/build, exterior era, left/driver or right/passenger side and Coupe or Convertible body. Require the donor VIN when available and clear photographs of the actual shell, service label or stamp, upper and lower hinge mounts, check-strap area, latch and handle openings, mirror triangle, glass/regulator points, harness pass-through, drain openings, seams and factory intrusion structure. A bare shell should be treated as omitting hinges and fasteners, check strap, latch/actuator, inside and outside handles, lock cylinder, glass, regulator and motor, guides, seals and weatherstrips, mirror, harness and connectors, switches, speaker, vapor barrier, trim panel and clips unless each item is explicitly listed. For a loaded door, separately match body style, glass and seals, model-year equipment, connectors and every installed component; the shell's Coupe/Convertible fit note does not make a loaded door plug-and-play. Inspect used metal for corrosion at seams and drains, folded hems, dents and stretched metal, cracks, filler, repaint, heat, prior welding, damaged intrusion structure, elongated hinge holes, torn check-strap or latch areas, water exposure and freight damage. Support the heavy door during removal and fitting, protect the finish, and use current VIN-specific Ford body procedures for hinge, striker, glass and seal alignment. After glass, regulator or electrical work, verify secure latch operation and short-drop calibration with the doors closed as Ford directs. Collision-damaged pillars, rocker, sill or restraint-related structure require qualified measurement and repair before a replacement door is fitted.

OEM numbers

2005-2009 FRONT SHELLS: passenger/right 5R3Z-6320124-BA and driver/left 5R3Z-6320125-BA. Separate 2005-2009 outer repair panels are passenger/right 5R3Z-6320200-AA and driver/left 5R3Z-6320201-AAan outer panel is not a complete shell. 2010-2014 FRONT SHELLS: passenger/right AR3Z-6320124-B replacing AR3Z-6320124-A and driver/left AR3Z-6320125-B replacing AR3Z-6320125-A. Separate 2010-2014 outer repair panels are passenger/right AR3Z-6320200-A and driver/left AR3Z-6320201-A. CHECKED MOUNTING IDENTITIES: upper hinge 4R3Z-6322800-AA and lower hinge 6R3Z-6322810-AA are cataloged RH/LH and Coupe/Convertiblechecked door-check references are 6R3Z-6323552-AA on the early catalog and BR3Z-6323552-A on the later catalog. These are shell, repair-panel and mounting references, not proof of a complete installed-door package.

Supersession

Supported complete-shell service links are passenger/right AR3Z-6320124-A -> AR3Z-6320124-B and driver/left AR3Z-6320125-A -> AR3Z-6320125-B for the 2010-2014 era. The 2005-2009 5R3Z shell pair and 2010-2014 AR3Z pair are parallel exterior-era families, not an interchange or supersession chain. The four outer-panel numbers are separate body-repair parts and are not shell supersessions. The checked early and late door-check entries are retained as era observations; no check-strap supersession arrow is asserted. Shared upper/lower hinges or a shared bare shell between Coupe and Convertible does not establish interchange for glass, seals, regulators, latches, mirrors, wiring, trim or a loaded donor assembly.

Fitment

Aftermarket options

For 2010-2014, compare an exact new Ford service shell with an exact-era, exact-side used original after freight, paint and transfer labor are known. The checked 2005-2009 Ford shells are discontinued on the OEM seller path, so donor metal may be the practical route; require donor identity, repair history and a written contents list. A complete used door can reduce transfer work only when glass/body style, regulator, latch, mirror, wiring, trim and every connector are documented. An aftermarket outer skin is not a shell and cannot repair damaged hinge, latch, check-strap or intrusion structure. Any aftermarket shell or panel requires manufacturer-backed era/side fitment, material and construction, factory-equivalent mounting and intrusion provisions, corrosion protection and lawful repair documentation. Avoid universal listings, welded cross-era conversions, cut hinge/latch areas, undeclared filler or corrosion and any seller claim that treats paint color or broad 2005-2014 wording as fitment proof.

Before you buy

Match VIN/build, 2005-2009 versus 2010-2014 era and left/right side. Ford catalogs apply each era's bare shell to Coupe and Convertible, but that does not make loaded doors interchangeable: separately match glass, seals, regulator, latch, mirror, harness, trim and connectors. A skin or outer panel is not a shell. Itemize every included part; inspect seams, drains, filler, welds, intrusion structure, hinge/check/latch areas, paint and freight damage. Support and align the door with current Ford procedures, confirm secure latching and recalibrate short-drop glass with doors closed after relevant work. Seller price and availability observations are dated.
