What you need to know

First-generation FA20 exhaust sensing only. Resolve Bank 1 Sensor 1 upstream A/F versus Bank 1 Sensor 2 downstream O2. Diagnose exhaust leaks, wiring, fuel control, ECM calibration and catalyst efficiency before replacement.

OEM numbers

Toyota upstream A/F sensor SU003-00425 and downstream oxygen sensor SU003-00428. Checked Subaru upstream path 22641AA640. Denso 234-9136 is a checked upstream replacement path.

Supersession

No upstream/downstream interchange and no assertion that a sensor automatically repairs P0420. Exact badge/VIN catalog and connector/position must agree.

Before you buy

Upstream A/F and downstream O2 sensors are not interchangeable. A P0420 code does not prove the sensor is bad; inspect leaks, calibration, fuel control and catalyst condition first.
