US E46 Front Axle Supports: RWD, xi and M3 Carrier Identification
US/LHD BMW E46 only: factory RWD 3 Series and 2001-2006 M3 bare front axle support family 31111096902, plus 2001-2005 325xi Sedan/Wagon and 330xi Sedan AWD family 31101096954. Resolve both VINs/builds, body, drivetrain, engine/transmission, reinforcement plate or adapters and installed interfaces. Exclude E36/E9x, Z4 cross-application, Compact/diesel/non-US/RHD assumptions, tubular or cut/welded swap carriers, and structural-repair claims.

Begin with recipient and donor VINs/build months, US/LHD body, exact model, engine, transmission and RWD, xi or M3 equipment. The checked RWD and M3 catalogs use the same bare carrier 31111096902, but this does not prove complete front-axle interchange: reinforcement plates, control arms and brackets, engine-support brackets and mounts, steering equipment, stabilizer pieces, geometry and hardware remain application-specific. The xi carrier 31101096954 is a separate structure with AWD-specific adapters and front-differential, oil-pan, output-shaft, steering and suspension interfaces. A bare carrier does not include its reinforcement plate, adapters, rack, arms, bushings, stabilizer, engine supports or mounts, heat shields, sensors, jack fixture or fasteners unless each item is listed. Require actual-piece photographs from every side and a readable identity. Reject cracks, buckling, bent or displaced pickups, elongated or torn holes, severe pitting or perforation, collision marks, heat, filler, grinding, non-factory welds, straightening, cut or relocated mounts and coating that hides condition. Shared E46 or Z4 naming, appearance, loose hardware or seller fitment never overrides the exact carrier family. Have suspected collision geometry and the recipient body measured by a qualified structural or alignment professional. Installation requires securely supporting the engine, following current BMW procedures and hardware rules, protecting steering and AWD interfaces, and completing alignment, steering-angle verification and functional inspection.

Do not print a universal 31111096015 -> 31111096019 -> 31111096902 sequence. No supersession was proved for xi 31101096954. Reinforcement plates and xi adapter pairs are production/body branches, not supersessions.
Fitment
Shared E46 or Z4 naming, appearance, loose hardware or seller fitment never overrides the exact carrier family. Installation requires securely supporting the engine, following current BMW procedures and hardware rules, protecting steering and AWD interfaces, and completing alignment, steering-angle verification and functional inspection.
Aftermarket options
A correctly identified, straight and unmodified factory carrier is the accepted identity path. Tubular motorsport K-members, rack-relocated or engine-swap cradles, reinforced or repaired carriers, altered pickup geometry, solid-mounted systems and powder-coated used structures are separate engineered or structural decisions. None is represented as an OE-equivalent donor identity, and reinforcement or coating must not conceal cracks, corrosion, heat, collision damage, straightening or prior repairs.
Before you buy
US/LHD E46 only. RWD bare carrier 31111096902 and xi carrier 31101096954 are separate families. The M3 catalog uses 31111096902, but its reinforcement plate, arms, mounts, steering and geometry remain M3-specific; no complete non-M/M3 interchange is claimed. Match both VINs/builds, body, drivetrain, carrier identity, plate or adapters and itemized contents. Reject structural damage, serious corrosion, heat, welding, straightening, cut mounts or hidden repairs. Exclude E36/E9x, Z4 interchange, non-US/RHD assumptions, tubular or swap cradles and structural-repair instructions. Require qualified installation and alignment.
