BMW catalog wording uses both till and from 200209, so a September 2002 car requires VIN/build lookup plus the installed compressor manufacturer/model/number, ports, connector and pulley. Read the underhood refrigerant label and exact compressor oil/precharge instructions. Diagnose leak/charge, clutch command, electrical control, belt, airflow and system pressures before ordering. Recover refrigerant legally. Internal compressor damage requires contamination assessment, drier replacement and expansion-valve inspection rather than an assumed compressor-only repair.
