US 240SX Cabin Blower Motor, Resistor, Relay and Fan-Switch Diagnosis

US-market 1989-1998 Nissan 240SX with the original manual HVAC control and four fan-speed positions, regardless of manual or automatic transmission. JDM/import digital automatic climate control, fan-amplifier conversions, A/C refrigerant service, heater-core work and engine-cooling fans are excluded.

What you need to know

Confirm a US 240SX with the original four-position manual HVAC fan switch, chassis, VIN/build date, installed motor/resistor numbers, connector, flange, rotation and whether the fan wheel is included. One or more missing lower speeds can point to the resistor or circuit; no speeds can also involve fuse, blower relay, fan switch, connector heat damage, power/ground, wiring, a seized/high-current motor or debris/restricted airflow. Diagnose the circuit before parts. Disconnect the battery before removal, let the resistor cool and never power a loose fan or bypass the control circuit.

OEM numbers

S13 1989-1994: motor with fan 27220-40F00 and resistor 27150-40F00. S14 motor build split: 27220-70F00 for 02/1994-05/1994 production and 27220-70F01 from 05/1994. S14 resistor build split: 27150-41B00 for 02/1994-04/1996 and from 10/199627150-41B05 for 04/1996-10/1996, later serviced by 27150-41B00. Checked aftermarket S14 motor reference: Four Seasons 35245seller pages conflict on whether the wheel is included, so verify listing contents and installed fan cage.

Supersession

27150-41B05 -> 27150-41B00 for the checked S14 resistor service path. S13 27150-40F00 and S14 27150-41B00 are separate chassis/equipment identities, not an interchange chain. S14 27220-70F00 and 27220-70F01 are build-date motor branches, not a published supersession. No JDM fan amplifier, including 27761-01U00, is asserted to supersede either US resistor.

Checked paths include genuine S14 resistors, Four Seasons 35245 and other S14 motor-only or motor-and-wheel listings, exact used OE S13 assemblies and connector/relay service paths. Seller pages disagree about fan-wheel inclusion for the same aftermarket reference, so match motor flange, connector, shaft/cage, rotation and contents. A JDM digital-climate fan amplifier is a conversion part, not a US manual-control replacement.

Before you buy

US 240SX original four-speed manual HVAC control only; transmission type does not select this system. Match S13/S14, S14 build date, installed number, connector/flange/rotation and fan-wheel contents. Diagnose fuse, relay, switch, wiring/connectors, power/ground, resistor, motor current/noise and debris/restricted airflow before buying. S13 OE motor/resistor are discontinued. Import digital-climate fan amplifiers are excluded. Disconnect the battery, let the resistor cool, support loose components and use no bypass or powered-loose-fan test.
