US S13/S14 240SX Front Wiper Motor, Linkage, Arms, Cowl and Park-Circuit Diagnosis

Supported same-branch service links are S13 motor 28810-40F00 -> B8810-40F00 and S13 arms 28881-40F00 / 28881-40F01 -> 28881-40F05. S14 arm chains are driver 28881-70F00 -> 28881-70F03 and passenger 28886-70F00 -> 28886-75F00; S14 cowl cover 66862-70F10 -> 66862-70F20; later S14 wiper amplifier 28510-81F00 -> 28510-81F01; and S14 switches 25260-2B600 -> 25260-1E400, 25260-2B201 -> 25260-1E401 and 25260-2B200 -> 25260-2M100. Motors 28810-70F00 and 28810-81F00 are separate 07/1996 production branches, not a checked supersession. Do not merge S13 with S14 links/pivots/motors, S14 driver with passenger arms, S14 SE with STD controls, or S13 TCU 28550-40F00 with the rear-only amplifier 28510-40F60.

First decide S13 versus S14, US/LHD, production date, side, body/equipment and installed number/connector. For S14 motors, the checked catalog break is 07/1996; resolve the overlapping month by VIN/build and installed label. Match S14 driver/passenger arms separately and match the amplifier and switch to exact trim/function/connector rather than year alone. S13 cowl plastics have side, revision and ABS-equipment branches; S14 has one broad cover revision at 02/1996. Diagnose before purchasing. If wipers do not move, do not drive in rain/snow: use the exact-year wiring diagram to check the correct fuse, power feed, loaded grounds, switch, connectors and control path before condemning a motor. The checked 1990 service material says S13 delayed front wiping is handled by the Time Control Unit and that the motor contains an integral park switch; the catalog separately marks 28510-40F60 rear-wiper-only. S14 uses its own front wiper-amplifier branches. A wrong park position can come from the motor park circuit, switch/control/wiring, bent or misassembled links, loose/indexed arms, stripped splines, seized pivots or cowl interference. Keep hands/tools clear of a powered linkage and disconnect the battery ground before mechanical service according to the exact factory procedure. When safe and the correct procedure calls for it, isolate motor drive from linkage resistance without bending links or damaging ball-joint boots. After service, cycle the motor at low speed and turn it OFF to reach Auto Stop before indexing/tightening arms; clean splines, wet the glass with washer fluid, run a full sweep and confirm clearance and return. Never run dry blades across glass or allow an arm to strike the glass/cowl. Linkage, pivots, arms, cowl, switches and controls are separate unless a listing itemizes them.

The checked WL2495 product is an S14-only complete linkage/transmission assembly crossing 28841-70F00 and 28842-65F00 and described as including links, pivots and crank arm; do not extend it to S13. CARDONE 43-1242 is retained as a checked S13/reman motor search path, but confirm its current manufacturer application, connector, mounting and core terms before ordering. Generic ball-joint bushings, cross-chassis links and imported/RHD mechanisms are not endorsed as verified direct replacements. Used motors and controls require readable labels, dry/corrosion-free connectors, tested low/high/park/intermittent operation and return terms; used linkage requires straight links, tight ball joints, free pivots, intact boots and no cowl-water corrosion.
