First-Generation FR-S, BRZ and 86 Factory Front Fenders: Side, Liner, Extension and Garnish Identification

US/LHD first-generation factory front-fender applications only: 2013-2016 Scion FR-S, 2013-2020 Subaru BRZ and 2017-2020 Toyota 86. Resolve the recipient VIN, badge, model year, build date, trim or special edition, paint code and left/driver versus right/passenger side before ordering. Scope includes the bolt-on outer fender shell, separate liner or mud guard, wheel-opening pad or extension bracket, and badge-specific outer garnish/emblem. Exclude 2022-up GR86/BRZ, imported GT86/JDM/RHD marker-cut assumptions, rear quarter panels, bumper covers and lamps, fixed inner apron or rail structure, widebody/overfender conversions and unsupported cross-badge or cross-side swaps.

What you need to know

Start with the recipient VIN, badge, build, trim/special edition, paint code and US left/driver or right/passenger side. Confirm the shell identity where labeled and compare every hood, headlamp, bumper, door, rocker, liner, extension and garnish mounting point. Toyota/Scion and Subaru use different catalog shell identities; shared platform shape or seller 86/FR-S/BRZ wording does not prove cross-badge interchange. A bare fender normally omits the liner/mud guard, air flap, extension/bracket, wheel-opening pads, garnish, emblem, clips, fasteners and any adjacent bumper or lamp equipment. The checked US hood/front-fender diagrams expose garnish/emblem assemblies but no fender-mounted marker-lamp identity; do not buy an imported or modified marker-cut panel from appearance alone, and keep bumper/marker lighting in the front-fascia scope. Inspect used shells at the wheel lip, lower rear edge, upper flange and headlamp/bumper corner for bends, cracks, rust, filler, welds, stretched metal, overspray, torn holes, missing VIN/identity labels and prior collision repair. Require donor VIN, side, paint, straight-on flange and underside photographs, packaging and freight-damage terms. Measure and repair damaged apron, rail, hinge-pillar, rocker or bumper structure with qualified collision procedures before panel-gap alignment; verify tire clearance, liner retention, hood/door/bumper gaps and all lamps before driving.

Supersession

Supported checked service links are Scion/Toyota LH liner SU003-01548 -> SU003-06094, RH liner SU003-01547 -> SU003-06093, Subaru LH mud guard 59110CA010 -> 59110CA011 and Subaru RH mud guard 59110CA000 -> 59110CA001. The checked Toyota/Scion catalogs retain shell SU003-01391 LH and SU003-01390 RH across the sampled FR-S and Toyota 86 years; the checked Subaru catalogs retain 57129CA0309P LH and 57129CA0209P RH across the sampled BRZ years. Catalog continuity within each badge service family is not promoted to a Toyota/Scion-to-Subaru supersession. FR-S, Toyota 86, early BRZ and facelift BRZ garnish/emblem families remain separate parallel applications, and painted or special-edition variants require VIN/color confirmation.

Fitment

Start with the recipient VIN, badge, build, trim/special edition, paint code and US left/driver or right/passenger side. Confirm the shell identity where labeled and compare every hood, headlamp, bumper, door, rocker, liner, extension and garnish mounting point. Toyota/Scion and Subaru use different catalog shell identities; shared platform shape or seller 86/FR-S/BRZ wording does not prove cross-badge interchange. A bare fender normally omits the liner/mud guard, air flap, extension/bracket, wheel-opening pads, garnish, emblem, clips, fasteners and any adjacent bumper or lamp equipment. The checked US hood/front-fender diagrams expose garnish/emblem assemblies but no fender-mounted marker-lamp identity; do not buy an imported or modified marker-cut panel from appearance alone, and keep bumper/marker lighting in the front-fascia scope. Inspect used shells at the wheel lip, lower rear edge, upper flange and headlamp/bumper corner for bends, cracks, rust, filler, welds, stretched metal, overspray, torn holes, missing VIN/identity labels and prior collision repair. Require donor VIN, side, paint, straight-on flange and underside photographs, packaging and freight-damage terms. Measure and repair damaged apron, rail, hinge-pillar, rocker or bumper structure with qualified collision procedures before panel-gap alignment; verify tire clearance, liner retention, hood/door/bumper gaps and all lamps before driving.

Aftermarket options

Checked seller paths exposed primed steel replacement fenders, a painted-to-VIN genuine-shell service and used original panels. Aftermarket Partslink SC1240108/SC1241108 or seller cross-badge wording is a purchasing lead, not factory supersession evidence. Require written badge/year/side fitment, material and gauge, exact garnish and liner holes, headlamp/bumper/door/rocker geometry, corrosion coating, included brackets and hardware, paint preparation, freight, return and professional-installation terms. One checked Go-Parts result even called a right-side application Subaru FR-S, illustrating why seller labels cannot replace VIN/catalog checks. Avoid universal flares, widebody panels, imported marker-cut shells, repaired mounting flanges and any listing that hides the actual photographed part or structural damage.

Before you buy

US first-generation FR-S, BRZ and Toyota 86 only. Match VIN, badge, year/build, side, trim and paint; Toyota/Scion SU003-01391/01390 and Subaru 57129CA0309P/0209P are separate catalog families, not a cross-badge supersession. A bare shell does not establish liner, bracket, pad, garnish, emblem, clips or hardware. The checked US fender diagrams identify garnish/emblem equipment but no fender-mounted marker lamp; do not infer imported marker-cut fit. Inspect bends, rust, filler, welds, flanges, labels and freight damage, and use qualified structural measurement/alignment after a collision.
