What you need to know

The hard fitment split is installed HVAC equipment, not transmission. Manual HVAC generally uses three rotary controls and a stepped resistor; dual-zone automatic HVAC uses AUTO/digital temperature controls and a solid-state controller. FR-S/86 and BRZ trim tendencies are insufficient by themselves because premium and special editions vary; verify controls, connector and VIN.

Supersession

Before you buy

Match the installed manual or automatic HVAC controls, connector and VIN before ordering; badge, model year and transmission alone are insufficient. High-only or missing lower speeds on manual HVAC can suggest the resistor circuit, but test power, ground, fuse, relay, command and motor load before replacing parts. Noise or excessive current can indicate the motor. Connector heat warrants terminal and airflow-restriction inspection but is not evidence of a platform-wide defect. Do not operate a resistor or controller outside its installed airflow.
